Brown County community readies for 16h annual Back-to-School Store For Immediate Release, Contact Sarah Gicius 920.883.5021June 23, 2006 - The 16th annual Back-to-School Store will be held on Wednesday, August 13th at Green Bay’s Franklin Middle School from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This unique and award-winning program provides underprivileged children of Brown County with new clothing, supplies and confidence for the school year. Boys and girls are referred to the Store by 23 area schools, social service agencies and churches. Children must be pre-registered to participate. Close to 1,500 boys and girls benefited from the Store last year. This year, 1,600 kindergarten through 5th grade Brown County students will receive the following: New tennis shoes, socks and underwear New jeans and shirt New backpacks loaded with required school supplies Grooming kit Hair Cut Vouchers Ice Cream Treat Free dental screening and an eye exam (optional) In addition, 1500 middle school students will receive new backpacks filled with school supplies. All of these supplies are provided at no cost to the students. Service League of Green Bay, along with a coalition of community members, guides this effort annually. Generous monetary and merchandise donations from area businesses, foundations, churches and community members make this special project possible.
